Ganeinu Hebrew School, hosted at Ganeinu Academy, is built around fun, interactive, progressive teaching: a Kindergarten through 5th grade program with hands-on projects instead of worksheets. No dusty workbooks: our goal is a Jewish education that feels like theirs, not something done to them.
Our approach
We're building Ganeinu Hebrew School around progressive teaching methods from day one: hands-on projects instead of worksheets, movement and games instead of sitting still, and small groups where kids talk as much as they listen. Hebrew reading matters because it opens the prayerbook. Holidays matter because they're your family's calendar, not just a unit in a workbook.
Ganeinu Hebrew School is open to families of every background and level of observance. Families who are Reform, Conservative, secular, interfaith, or still figuring it out all sit in the same classrooms. What we ask is curiosity, not certainty.
Hebrew: a living language, not a memorized alphabet.

Our academy
Ganeinu Hebrew School is a project of Ganeinu Academy, a Jewish day school in Fresh Meadows, Queens that's been growing since 2014, first as a preschool, then expanding to a full Nursery through 8th grade program in 2019. Ganeinu means "our garden" in Hebrew, and the name says it all: the school believes every child's unique potential deserves the same care and attention a garden does. Ganeinu's Reggio-inspired, STEAM-based approach (hands-on, experiential, project-based learning) is exactly the spirit Ganeinu Hebrew School brings to Hebrew and Jewish studies.
